As a part of the process of preparing and adopting a Regional Plan of Conservation & Development, the Regional Planning Committee has scheduled workshops designed to inform the region’s residents and to seek information that will guide the RPC and the Plan. What is your vision for the lower CT Valley Region?

Volunteer Work Party to plant trees at Brockway-Hawthorne Preserve-Meet on Brush Hill Road.

Place: Park by the parking lot entrance on Brush Hill Road about 1/2 mile south of Hadlyme Country Market

We are excited to report that the trails at the Brockway-Hawthorne Preserve are all blazed and the parking lot on Brush Hill Road is completed!!! Almost there! We now need help planting 17 holly trees along the driveway to the parking lot. The trees are being planted to create a buffer for the neighbor. We will need workers with shovels and anything else you have that will help with planting trees.  Don’t forget heavy your duty gloves and bug spray.

Trailblazer Walk –  Preview of new Brockway-Hawthorne Preserve

Join us for a walk on the new trails and bridges that have been completed so far at the Brockway-Hawthorne Preserve in Lyme. This is an opportunity to see the work in progress. There is still work to be done before the preserve will be ready for an official opening. The walk will be led by Wendolyn Hill, Lyme Land Trust board member and Town of Lyme Open Space Coordinator. The hike is a moderately easy 2.5 miles or so.

Trailblazer walk/Trail Trimming at Jewett Preserve

Join us for this moderate walk in the woods at the Jewett Preserve in Lyme. We will hike the white trail and orange trail at the  Jewett Preserve, led by Wendolyn Hill, Lyme Land Trust board member and Town of Lyme Open Space Coordinator. We will trim stems and saplings that are encroaching on the path as we walk. Bring along heavy-duty gloves and loppers. The hike is a about 2.5 miles.

Directions: Rt. 156 north to left on Mt. Archer Road. Travel about 1.25 miles. The Jewett Cemetery Entrance is on the right.
