Spring bow and shotgun hunting season for turkey begins Apr. 29 and runs through May 30, 2026 with hunting permitted Monday through Friday, from a half-hour before sunrise until noon, in the following preserves:
- Beebe Preserve
- Chestnut Hill Preserve
- Eno Preserve
- Hilles Preserve
- Jewett Preserve – bow hunting only
- Johnston Preserve
- Mount Archer Woods
- Pickwick’s Preserve (private permit)
- Plimpton Preserve
- Slawson Preserve
The preserves, which are owned by the Town of Lyme, the Lyme Land Trust and/or the Nature Conservancy, will remain open to all users during spring turkey bow and shotgun hunting season. Please note that no hunting is allowed in these preserves on Saturday or Sunday.
Hikers and other residents are encouraged to always practice caution and wear bright colors in Lyme preserves during hunting seasons, as adjacent public and private lands may allow hunting – even on weekends.
Permits for hunting in these preserves are granted annually by the Town of Lyme Open Space Coordinator to a limited number of licensed hunters.
