SUMMARY:December 9 Astronomy Observing Session
DESCRIPTION:As Saturn makes its way to a western departure\, Jupiter is well-established in the east. The constellations Orion\, Gemini and Taurus now take center stage\, climbing higher in the eastern sky. Inside the observatory\, you can watch deep sky objects grow in detail and full color on a wall-mounted monitor. Public sessions are co-facilitated by one or more of our talented cohort enthusiasts: \n\nMark Borton\nRoger Charbonneau\, Jr\nJon Dean\nJay Drew\nScott Mallory\nJohn Natale\nParag Sahasrabudhe\nAlan Sheiness\n\nYoung or old\, experienced or totally unfamiliar\, we look forward to exposing you to our uniquely dark skies here in Lyme. Upon registration you will receive a link to directions and observing session guidelines. SUMMARY:Oct 14 Partial Solar Eclipse
DESCRIPTION:=Registration Not Required= \nCome watch the moon take a small bite out of the corner of the Sun as it passes between the Sun and the Earth. Unfortunately for us\, this eclipse will be nowhere near full but we will watch the event unfold safely on a monitor that will be fed live images from a telescope fitted with a special solar filter. Learn what causes a solar eclipse and what it would look like from space peering down at the Earth\, too. Here is a resource about the eclipse and related information: https://solarsystem.nasa.gov/eclipses/2023/oct-14-annular/where-when \nPS \nIf you like these programs and you are not currently a Lyme Land Trust Member\, please consider joining us using the green Become A Member link at the top of the LLT page.
