Use the links above to find a suitable filter for your specific equipment. With a proper filter in place over the objective-end of your camera\, it will be possible to image the Sun. Expect the image scale to be virtually the same as photographing the moon\, so plan for a sufficient size lens. For scale\, take test photos of the moon. Use a tripod and get used to having to adjust the positioning of the Moon as the Earth rotates. If you like the scale\, next take photos of the Sun using the solar filter. You will find it is difficult to line up and find the Sun with the filter in place. Use the shadow of the camera on the ground to assist in lining up. Beyond Leo\, the bright star Arcturus gives the early hint of spring on the march. In the north\, the galaxies M81 and M82 in Ursa Major\, and M51 in Canes Ventatici are well placed for viewing. \nWe have several different telescopes that are on display including a 14″ Schmidt-Cassegrain housed in a permanent observatory. Inside the observatory\, you can watch deep sky objects grow in detail and full color on a wall-mounted monitor. Public sessions are co-facilitated by one or more of our talented cohort enthusiasts: Mark Borton\, Roger Charbonneau Jr\, Jon Dean\, Jay Drew\, Scott Mallory\, John Natale\, Parag Sahasrabudhe and Alan Sheiness. \nUpon registration you will receive a link to directions and observing session guidelines.
