The Lyme Land Conservation Trust (LLCT) is a non-profit organization
founded in 1966, dedicated to helping to conserve Lyme’s
natural, scenic and historic land and water resources. We acquire and
manage properties; support open space acquisition; promote scientific
study of natural resources; and educate the public, thus helping
preserve the quality of life. We often partner with the town of Lyme
and other conservation groups in this mission.
The Trust oversees a total of
2658 acres. It owns 30 properties, and maintains easements on another
57. The Land Trust also monitors the 235 acre Pleasant Valley Preserve
under agreement with the Nature Conservancy.
The LLCT is an all-volunteer
organization, from our board of directors to our trail stewards. One
of the smallest towns in Connecticut, Lyme has proportionally one of
the largest land trust memberships in the United States.
